We are Forever Unbroken.

Years ago, I took a jog around the block, not knowing that my life was about to be changed forever. A man, who was a complete stranger to me, had broken into the back of my house and was lying in wait for my return. Upon my return, he brutally beat and raped me. What followed, was not only my own personal tragedies, but also the glaring discrepancies in how our systems dealt with what happened medically, legally and socially.

My ordeal prompted me to want to share my story and the more I did, the more others came forth with their own. Having so many unexpected heroes step up and stand by me during that time was truly humbling. My aim is to expand that tribe, so that others, like you, going through a tough time may depend on the Forever Unbroken community to remind you of your inner greatness – no matter the circumstances.

Simultaneously, after I fought to get justice and my rapist was sentenced, I applied for visitation to where he was imprisoned. Six months of lobbying and three correctional centres later, I was granted the opportunity to sit opposite my rapist and have a frank and open discussion. I then found out that there were no secular restorative justice programs available state-wide in prisons, and so I set about creating my own and experimented on myself as the victim in its centre.

It is this journey that has created Forever Unbroken, a place to seek out restorative justice opportunities, read about my journey or pick up a reminder that you too, can be Forever Unbroken.
